Melissa Artemis Shemanna

Melissa Artemis Shemanna is an Australian visionary artist, gallery curator and festival arts project manager. Shemanna’s paintings hold an evolutionary enquiry into the greater cosmic intelligence, contrasting super worldly imagery of organic form, myth and ancient lore with futuristic tech and hyper-colour lenses with a visionary edge. Her main use of mediums include; hand made oil paints & traditional egg tempera techniques, also high chroma acrylics, pure pigment, natural ochres and graphite pencil. Melissa is based regionally in the Yarra-Valley Victoria, in an off-grid mountain top home/studio called ‘The Honeybee Temple’. Her arts practice originated as a self-taught drawing and painting discipline from an early age, she holds a Diploma of Fine Arts (painting), has studied old masters painting techniques at residential painting tutelage in both Italy and Bali. Melissa has worked in the arts and events industry for over 20 years, and has also had primary painting mentors, including artists that spring from the direct student lineage of Ernst Fuchs in the Visionary/Surrealist Arts/fantastic realism style. Shemanna first founded Omniculture Arts foundation in 1996 as an arts activist project and this has evolved into her current venture; 'The Honeybee Temple Arts Embassy & Foundation’ officially founded in 2018, which acts as a non-profit community arts platform for innovating multi-disciplinary creativity & wellbeing in local and global communities. Her arts event management portfolio includes exhibiting and curating festival arts production events, managing & curating arts festival galleries; Rainbow Serpent Evolve Gallery, EarthArtBeat Festival, Babylon Festival, Pollinate group arts extravaganzas, and sacred arts ceremonies.

Melissa has exhibited her artworks in Solo and Group shows in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia and Internationally in the USA, Italy, Bali, Netherlands & Romania. Melissa Artemis Shemanna's paintings are held in private collections internationally.
