Though we will never give up hope, 2021 has been a tough year, even for the most optimistic among us. Sometimes, it feels like the outside world has been cancelled and we’re all doomed to live our lives online. This is a big part of why the Elements team is doing everything within our power to keep the festival going. Gatherings like Elements Festival are a reminder that we will find our way out of the pandemic. They also give us much-needed connection with our community and a chance to release all the pent-up frustration, fear, and anxiety brought on by endless lockdowns and health threats. 

To be able to deliver the festival you all deserve, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone our event until December. Elements Festival 2021 will now be running from the 16th to the 19th of December, giving us valuable time for the lockdowns in New South Wales, Victoria, and New Zealand to do their job. 

All tickets for the October event will be automatically transferred to the new dates, so if you already have your tickets sorted, you don’t need to do a thing. We understand that the new dates won’t be suitable for everyone. If there was any way around this postponement, we would be all over it, but since there’s not, we’re committed to making it as easy as possible for you. We’ll be covering all the name change fees for those who wish to sell their tickets, and we’ll also be taking steps to ensure all second-hand tickets are picked up before any new ones are sold.

WILL ELEMENTS FESTVAL BE CANCELLED IF STATE BORDERS ARE CLOSED IN DECEMBER?

Our ideal scenario is for all states to have borders open so we can welcome Elementals from all over Australia to the festival. The minimum requirement is for at least one of New South Wales or Victoria to have borders open. The reasoning is that a huge proportion of our creative contributors and attendees come from these states. So, if Queensland’s borders are closed to both, we will have no choice but to postpone the festival until 2022. 

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN'T ATTEND ELEMENTS FESTIVAL 2021 DUE TO BORDER CLOSURES?

We understand that the pandemic presents everyone with a lot of uncertainty, so we do our best to absorb the brunt of it for you and allow you to feel confident in your ticket purchase. If you’re unable to attend due to unavoidable border restrictions, you can use our authorised reseller, Tixel, to transfer your ticket to someone else, and we’ll cover the name change fee for you. If you can’t do this, we will again, open another window of time (closer to the festival dates) in which you can request a refund. Click here for all the details. 

 

WILL WE BE ABLE TO DANCE IF SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES ARE IN PLACE?

You have no idea how much we feel you on this question! Elements Festival is all about finding your place in the community, making connections, and shaking your butt on the dancefloor. However, in this new world, it’s essential to follow the social distancing guidelines recommended by health officials. Thankfully, Elements has a massively expanded map this year and plenty of staff and infrastructure dedicated to helping you maintain social distance while also dancing your heart out.

We have a comprehensive COVID-Safe plan developed in tandem with Queensland Health. Each instalment of the festival will be carried out in accordance with the legislation at the time, with the aim being to allow you as much freedom as possible while prioritising your health and safety.

 

WHAT IS ELEMENTS FESTIVAL DOING TO PROTECT MY HEALTH DURING THE PANDEMIC?

Elements Festival has been working closely with Queensland Health to develop a COVID-Safe plan. This is a dynamic blueprint for safely carrying out the festival, meaning it is flexible and adaptable to suit the ever-changing circumstances of the pandemic. 

At this stage, we can confirm there will be more medical support at the festival and an array of hygiene and sanitation measures in place. By providing contact tracing information, you will be doing your part to keep your fellow Elementals safe and allow us to continue creating the festival each year. We will keep you updated on every safety measure being implemented, so keep an eye on the Elements Festival social pages to stay up-to-date. 

 

WILL THE FESTIVAL CAPACITY BE REDUCED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC?

Elements caps attendance at 5,000 people per event, including both attendees and contributors to the festival. This means we’re not in the high-risk range according to the Queensland COVID-Safe Event Framework, so we’re good to go with our current capacity. If this changes, we will let you know via our website and social media channels.
